SSL Certificates Are Less Scary Than I Thought
By Nazif ยท 10 Sep 2026
I always assumed HTTPS setup involved buying certificates and manually configuring complicated cryptography. Using Let's Encrypt with Certbot made the whole process almost anticlimactic in the best way.
A single command handled requesting the certificate, verifying domain ownership, and updating the Nginx configuration automatically. Within a couple of minutes, the site redirected from HTTP to HTTPS on its own.
It's a good reminder that a lot of intimidating-sounding infrastructure work has already been made accessible by good tooling, as long as you understand roughly what's happening underneath.
